On the occasion of Black History Month, the U.S. Embassy Press Attaché spoke to a group of university students and professors and local businessmen at the American Corner in Debrecen on the 26th of February, 2008 about the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Besides answering questions about this transformative event in American history, he showed the assembled group a PBS documentary film on the life of Martin Luther King.
In addition to the civil rights presentation, the Corner organized its regular English conversation hour that was well attended. The Embassy speaker also addressed about fifty local high school students on the topic of the U.S. Presidential election campaign.
