The Clark University Choir concluded its European tour with a March 5, 2008 concert at Budapest’s historic Matthias Church and a reception hosted by Ambassador Foley on March 6.
At the reception, the Choir of the Liszt Academy, under the direction of László Nemes and Gabriella Thesz, joined their Clark University counterparts for a mini-concert, with both groups demonstrating their virtuosity and range. Ambassador Foley presented the Ambassador’s Award for Music Diplomacy to Clark University Choir Conductor Katherine Fitzgibbon for presenting the best of American choral traditions and, in so doing, bringing together Hungarians and Americans in common appreciation of a musical genre that both countries cherish. The contacts made by both choirs serve the Embassy’s goal of strengthening bilateral friendship through people-to-people connections.
