A Bipartisan Delegation of Cuban-American Members of the U.S. House of Representatives Visited Budapest August 29-30, 2007
Congressman Albio Sires (NJ), Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (FL) and Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL) met with senior state officials, representatives of four Hungarian parliamentary parties and members of the press. The purpose of the delegation's visit was to express the gratitude of the United States - and especially of the Cuban diaspora in the United States - for Hungary's support of the island nation's transition to democracy; the Representatives also discussed further steps in the cooperation between Hungary and the United States vis-a-vis Cuba, including the sharing of lessons learned since Hungary's successful system change some eighteen years ago.
