On January 15, Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis and Deputy Chief of Mission Jeffrey Levine awarded certificates of completion to the first two participants of the fellowship program for multiply disadvantaged persons launched by the U.S. Embassy Budapest in November 2009. The fellowship program is part of the Embassy’s larger tolerance initiative and has been designed to enhance the career opportunities of college and university graduates who come from less fortunate backgrounds.

At the certificate awarding ceremony, the two fellows, Klaudia Balogh and Timea Balogh thanked the initiators of the program and the whole Embassy staff for their continued support and said that they feel more equipped for further career challenges after the completion of the two-month program. The second group of Embassy Fellows is due to begin their program in February.
