U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Counselor Edward Loo spoke at the February 9 inauguration of the “Welcome, Mr. President” photo exhibition organized by the American Corner in Pécs with the help of the Hungarian news agency MTI. The photography exhibit of U.S. presidents visiting Hungary is part of the official program of the Pécs European Capital of Culture year, and is being held at the Művészetek és Irodalom Háza.

Appearing with MTI’s president, Mátyás Vince, Loo said the exhibit underlined the importance of Hungary to present and past U.S. Administrations. He also highlighted the timeliness of the exhibit. In February, Americans celebrate Presidents Day, when we honor the achievements of U.S. presidents and more than two centuries of peaceful and democratic transfers of power. Also, February is Black History Month, when we celebrate the achievements of African Americans, including President Barack Obama’s historic victory.
