Visiting Hungary on the occasion of the launching of her new book, “Enemies of the People: My Family’s Journey to America”, the noted Hungarian-American journalist and author, Kati Marton led a conversation about her latest book at the residence of Ambassador Kounalakis on March 3rd.

Ms. Marton shared her personal memories of a dark period of modern Hungarian history and recalled the challenging research effort that went into the writing of her latest book. She stressed the need for young people in both Hungary and the U.S. to learn what life was like under Communism. Ambassador Kounalakis reminded the Hungarian and international audience of the important role played by her predecessors in providing material as well as moral support to persecuted families such as the Martons.
