To commemorate World Water Day (March 22), the American Corner Budapest and the U.S. Embassy have organized the “Beauty of Water - East Coast Rain” photo exhibition, which opened on March 9, 2010. The photos portrayed various scenes from the U.S. East Coast related to water: rainy city shots from New York City, small American towns on lakes, Niagara Falls, and so on. The unifying theme was the beauty of water.

Budapest American Corner Director, Erika Sólyom, Embassy Consular Officer Eric Schnotala and Dr. Sándor Kerekes, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Corvinus University opened the two-week exhibit. Mr. Schnotala emphasized the importance of water and spoke about his experience in West Africa where water is a key resource of everyday existence.

The event was part of the Budapest Corner’s “Bridges Series” that aims at connecting American and Hungarian cultures, through history, people, events, exhibitions and films. The opening of the exhibit attracted over forty visitors, including students and artists.
