Chargé d’Affaires Jeffrey Levine visits Roma and Friends Summer Camp
Chargé d’Affaires Levine visited the second annual Roma and Friends summer camp on July 28, 2009 in Balatonlelle at Lake Balaton, Hungary’s popular resort area. The camp brings together both Roma and non-Roma children from all over Hungary and their English teachers for one week to focus on teaching tolerance and to develop the youths’ English language skills. The campers participate in various activities like English language classes, American sports such as baseball, arts and crafts, traditional and modern dance and English language games that encourage them to socialize with each other and their camp counselors in English. The Chargé was briefed by camp director Jay Miller and talked with students about their experience in the camp. He also met with Mayor István Kenéz, who stopped by to greet him and the students. Chargé Levine wished the students a joyful stay and asked them to bring the message of tolerance back home and share it with their community.
