Ambassador Opens American Corner (AC) Directors’ Training

Ambassador Foley opened the annual AC Director’s Training Program at the Embassy on September 17, 2008. In her remarks, Ambassador Foley emphasized partnership as the core concept for the program, which continues to strengthen the relationship between Hungary and the United States.

The American Corners (AC) program is a United States Department of State-sponsored initiative inaugurated worldwide more than 10 years ago. Hungary has Corners in Pécs, Veszprém, Debrecen and Eger, which are part of a network of almost 400 Corners in 60 countries around the world.

Hungary’s four American Corners make information about the United States available to Hungarians via book, video and DVD collections, the Internet, and through a variety of local programs highlighting American culture, history, current events, and government.
