U.S. Civil Rights Movement Inspires Roma Students

Political Officer, C.J. Hernandez, presented the history of African-Americans to Roma university students and graduates at St Stephens University, Gödöllő, on 26 September. The Roma Szakkollégium, or Specialist College, is a professional and cultural community of students and teachers from universities across Hungary.

The group discussed the similarities and differences between the U.S. Civil Rights movement and the minority situation in Hungary today. The participants agreed that civil institutions and political activism are strong methods of confronting discrimination.
