Ambassador Foley’s Pre-Election Outreach in Veszprém

Ambassador Foley spoke to more than a hundred students about the U.S. elections at a meeting in the American Corner in Veszprém on October 21, 2008. The attending students came from three different high schools and asked a variety of questions ranging from who the Ambassador thinks will win the elections and what does an average American know about Hungary to whether Hillary Clinton supporters will possibly vote for Sarah Palin. Students were also interested in U.S.-Hungarian bilateral relations. The Ambassador offered the Hungarian military’s operation in Afghanistan as an example of the excellent relations and close cooperation between the two countries.

After the meeting, the Ambassador visited the famous porcelain factory at Herend and then met with students of the Dohnanyi Music High School in Veszprém where she learned to sing a Hungarian folk song.
