Celebration of Democracy - U.S. Election Night Party 2008

The American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary and the U.S. Embassy sponsored an election night party to observe the U.S. Presidential, Congressional and Gubernatorial races on November 4th. The capacity crowd of 1500 Hungarian and American guests met over drinks and dinner to hear remarks from among others Ambassador April Foley and Defense Minister Imre Szekeres, and participate in a mock U.S. presidential election, charity raffle and an election quiz show. Throughout the festive evening, the guests enjoyed music by the Hungarian Military Air Force Band.

In the words of Ambassador Foley, the 2008 election campaign has been a real show stopper, mesmerizing Americans and Europeans alike, a historic moment in U.S. history. She also added that the next president will remain consistent in our policy of commitment toward Hungary, and that U.S.-Hungary relations will continue to thrive and prosper. With history in the making, the party continued well into the morning hours.
