U.S. Embassy Hosts Trade Mission from Ohio

On November 6 and 7, 2008, the U.S. Embassy’s Commercial Service hosted three companies from the State of Ohio as part of a trade mission to Hungary. Executives from zinc plating additives manufacturer Columbia Chemical (Brunswick, Ohio), videoconference equipment maker Polycom (Dayton, Ohio) and military training provider Mission Essential Personnel (Columbus, Ohio) traveled to Budapest to meet with key Hungarian government and corporate contacts to discuss potential business opportunities and partnerships.

Ambassador April Foley, an Ohio native, proposed the trade mission during a business development trip to Cleveland, Ohio in February of this year. The trade mission builds on already excellent relations between Ohio and Hungary: the Ohio National Guard and the Hungarian military will jointly lead an Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT) to Afghanistan in 2009, and Ohio has one of the largest Hungarian-American populations in the U.S. "The connection between Ohio and Hungary is strong. With this trade mission, we are making it even stronger," said Ambassador Foley.
