Twenty years after the historic events of 1989, U.S. – Hungarian commercial relations have reached an important milestone. Chargé d’Affaires Jeffrey Levine addressed attendees of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (AmCham) Twentieth Anniversary Celebration on November 6 in the Upper House of the Hungarian Parliament.
Chargé Levine noted that American companies have invested more than nine billion dollars in Hungary, making the U.S. the fourth largest foreign investor, and trading more than four billion dollars worth of goods and services last year. He attributed much of this tremendous achievement to the efforts of AmCham. He concluded by stating: “Personnel may change, but great institutions outlast us all. I congratulate all of those who created this great institution and guided it through its first 20 years. The Embassy is very proud of our cooperation and shared commitment in supporting a successful and prosperous Hungary.
