Ambassador Foley Meets with Roma MPs
On December 2, 2008, Ambassador Foley met with ethnic Roma Members of Parliament Flórián Farkas and László Teleki to discuss the recent increase in anti-Roma activity in Hungary. In separate meetings, Ambassador Foley expressed the United States’ support for equality for all Hungarians and urged both lawmakers to look for constructive ways to address the situation.
Both Mr. Farkas and Mr. Teleki are members of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, Minorities, and Religious Issues. Mr. Teleki also serves as the Prime Minister’s Roma Affairs Commissioner.
