Embassy Conducts Successful Outreach to Teachers on Holocaust Education

On December 9, 2008, Ambassador Foley delivered opening remarks at the embassy-sponsored teachers' seminar called, "Lessons from our Past: Strategies for Teaching the Holocaust in the Classroom." Conducted by United States Holocaust Memorial Museum expert Stephen Feinberg, the seminar gave teachers unique approaches to teaching the Holocaust to their students.

In her remarks, Ambassador Foley urged the participants to embrace the message of tolerance and to encourage their students to do the same. Recalling our own history, she said that the goal for equality for all people is "one worth struggling to attain."

More than fifty high school teachers from across Hungary attended the half-day seminar.
