Consider a Career as a Foreign Service Officer:

Register NOW for the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT)

If you are a U.S. citizen and age 21 or older, and if you have considered a Foreign Service career, registration is open NOW for the Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT), which will be held in the USA and selected overseas locations, including Budapest.  The 2008 FSOT will be administered between March 1-8, 2008.  Not every location will offer the test every day during this period, but most will offer it for one or two days.

Online registration is open NOW.  To register for the FSOT, visit the following web site: www.careers.state.gov

From this web site, click on "REGISTER for the Foreign Service Officer Test".   Candidates who complete their online registration will receive an email notification from ACT that they are qualified to schedule their test.  Registered candidates may then go to an internet address provided by ACT to schedule their test at a given location.  In the event that a location has fully scheduled all of its available test seats, candidates will be invited to choose a different test location.

Registration for the Foreign Service Officer Test is ONLY via the online registration procedure.  If you have technical issues with the online registration process, please email fsot@act.org, or call ACT in the USA at (319) 341-2500  -or-  (800) 205-6358.  Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., US Central time.  Do not contact the U.S. Embassy to register for the FSOT.

Also available on the www.careers.state.gov web site is the Guide to the Foreign Service Officer Selection Process, available FREE via download.  This guide contains information regarding registration for the test, a sample test, and essay questions, information about testing for individuals with disabilities, how to prepare for the test, as well as explanations of the different career tracks, and life in the Foreign Service.
