Hungary's Education and Culture Minister, Dr. István Hiller, visited the United States from March 3 to 8, 2007, to conduct preparatory negotiations on the planned Hungarian Cultural Season to be held in the United States in 2009. Minister Hiller and Miller Crouch, U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Education and Cultural Affairs, signed an agreement on the continuation of the Fulbright Exchange Program between the United States and Hungary. The cultural, technical and scientific cooperation agreement will enable a number of graduates, scholars and scientists from Hungary to participate in various educational and scientific programs in the United States.
Also during the visit, Minister Hiller bestowed the Pro Cultura Hungarica award to former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, Nancy Goodman Brinker, Denver businessman Kirk Brown and his wife, Jill Wiltse, in recognition of their efforts to support Hungarian arts.
