Medical Examination
Each person, who is going to apply for an immigrant visa to the United States, has to do a medical examination with one of the doctors chosen from the list below before the visa interview date. The forms BDP-11 and BDP-18 you will find attached. You will need to present 3 photos (U.S. passport size is not a must for these, but they can not be older than 6 (six) months) for the examinations. One photo you will need to have with you and present it to the official person in the institution where you will do the HIV and syphilis test. The HIV and syphilis test needs to be done prior the examination performed by the doctor chosen by you from the list below. This examination has a fee, what you have to pay in the institution where the test is done.
You will need to present the remaining two photos alongside with your passport to the doctor who you have chosen from the list below. The doctor - after confirming the person’s identity from the passport presented – will perform the necessary examinations. Additional information about the vaccination will be given to you by the doctor performing the medical examination. DO NOT ask the vaccine before consulting the doctor. If some vaccination is needed, the costs will be covered by you. The vaccination fee is in jurisdiction of the institution giving the required vaccine.
The medical check up is containing a routine exam and a chest X-ray. In case, if the doctor determines the necessity of other specialized exams, he/she can ask for those. The cost of those exams will be also covered by you. If you are not speaking the language of the home country (Hungarian) nor English and a translator is needed for completion of the medical exams, you will have to pay those costs as well.
For children under age of 15 the chest X-ray, the blood- and HIV test is NOT required, UNLESS the doctor determines so.
The fees need to be paid to the doctor performing the medical examination.
Chest X-ray: HUF 3,000.-
Routine exam: HUF 10,000.-
Total: HUF 13,000.-
For children under age of 15 the routine exam is: HUF 7,000.-
Due to the fact that a completion of the medical exams can take a couple of days, it is recommended to you to schedule it at least a week before the visa interview.

Information Concerning HIV and Syphilis Tests
Your blood test for antibody to the AIDS virus and the syphilis test must be performed at: Budapest, VIII. Mária u. 41, Országos Bőr-, Nemikórtani és Bőronkológiai Intézet (National Institute of Dermato-Venereology).
Blood sample is taken: every working day between 8 and 11:30 a.m.
In case you wish to have the test result within one day, please be at the Laboratory by 9:00 a.m., and by 8:30 on Friday. For more information you may call the following number: 459-1500/5764. One photo is required for the blood test. Please note that the fee for the test can be paid only in cash.
Fee of the HIV test:
8,500 Ft if you request the result within one day.
5,000 Ft if you request the result within three days.
Fee of the syphilis test:
4,000 Ft within one day.
2,000 FT within three days.
Please be sure to have your identification document with you (passport). Please present this information sheet to the person at the Institute.
