The Human Resources Office (HR) is accepting applications from All Interested Applicants for the position of Temporary Locksmith/Metal Worker at the Facilities Management (FM).
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
The incumbent serves as a skilled journeyman level metalworker. S/he is responsible for installation and repair of locks, fences and doors and all types of metal work in Embassy buildings and annexes. The locksmith fabricates new work from rough drawings and makes shop drawings as necessary to perform his/her duties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: All applicants should address each of the selection criteria detailed below by providing specific and comprehensive information in support of each item.
1. Education: Completion of a vocational school, or apprenticeship recognized as producing journeyman mechanical skills, or equivalent experience, is required.
2. Experience: Four years of journeyman locksmith experience in the trade of primary expertise, plus some semi-skilled experience in other trade areas is required.
3. Language: Level I (Rudimentary knowledge) English and Hungarian Level IV language for both speaking and writing ability is required.
4. Knowledge: Must have a full journeyman metalworker's knowledge of trade practices and procedures in the primary trade. Must be able to work with metal work machines and knowledge of metal. Must be a certified gas and electrical welder.
5. Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of metal work machines; acceptable oral communication skills in English; good interpersonal skills and good relationship with colleagues. Must know how to operate various power tools and other trades equipment and tools. Must lift up 35 pounds if needs, and how to use ladder or scaffold for painting works. Must have Hungarian “B” driving license.
SELECTION PROCESS:

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Eligible Family Members (EFM) who currently hold an FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their appointment.

THE CLOSING DATE FOR THIS POSITION: October 14, 2008.
DEFINITIONS:
1. Eligible Family Member (EFM): U.S. citizen spouse or U.S. citizen child as referred to in 6 FAM 111.3, para R, (1) who is at least age 18, and who, in either case, is on the travel orders of a U.S. citizen Foreign or Civil Service employee or military service member permanently assigned to or stationed at a U.S. Foreign Service post or establishment abroad and under Chief of Mission authority.
2. Member of Household (MOH): Non-U.S. citizen spouses, dependent children not on the employees travel orders, unmarried partners of the same and opposite sex, parents, other relatives or adult children declared as an MOH to the Chief of Mission in writing but who fall outside the Department’s current legal and statutory definition of EFM.
3. Ordinarily Resident (OR): A citizen of the host country or a citizen of another country who has shifted the main residency focus to the host country (either permanently or temporarily) and would require work and/or residency permit to be employed in country. Any Ordinarily Resident American will receive a salary that is no less than U.S. minimum wage.
4. Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): Typically NORs are U.S. citizen Eligible Family Members and family members of Foreign Service, Civil Service, and military personnel who are on travel orders and under the Chief of Mission authority, or other personnel having diplomatic privileges and immunities.
