JPAC Excavation at Lake Balaton
July 2007 Ambassador Foley and Defense Attaché Colonel Kevin McGrath traveled to Nemesvita near Lake Balaton to visit a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) excavation site for a B-24H "Liberator" that crashed in a bombing mission to Austria during World War II near Lake Balaton on June 30, 1944.

International Festival of Honor Guards and Military Bands
July 2007 The Second International Festival of Honor Guards and Military Bands held in Miskolc, Hungary featured honor guard ceremonies and precision drill team performances by the US Air Force Honor Guard and other international participants.

October 2006 An American delegation including influential Hungarian-Americans attended the October 23 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution in Budapest.

Conference in Honor of the 50th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution
September 2006 Several embassies, including the U.S. Embassy in Budapest, and international organizations sponsored a conference entitled: "1956 and Hungary: The Memory of Eyewitnesses - In Search of Freedom and Democracy" at the Italian Institute of Culture in Budapest.

Commemoration of 50th Anniversary Year of the Hungarian Revolution
February 2006 Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice hosted a ceremony and reception to commemorate the 50th anniversary year of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution on February 13, 2006 in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the U.S. Department of State. Speakers taking part in the ceremony included Representative Tom Lantos.
