In a signing ceremony held on April 10, 2008, the USAID Regional Director, Mr. Ray Kirkland and the President of the Roma Self-Government, Mr. István Makai signed the official property transfer documents allowing the USAID Regional Services Center to donate over 100 individual items of furnishings and equipment such as, office desks and chairs, complete computer workstations (CPU, monitor, keyboard and mouse) printers, scanners and other furnishings to help set-up the new office of the Roma Self-Government in Budapest. The amount of property the USAID/RSC donated made it possible for the Roma Self-Government to furnish completely their new office; had these items been purchased new, the estimated cost would have been $32,000.
