Visa Processing Fee

For the month of February 2012, the 140 USD visa processing fee is 34,300 HUF, 150 USD fee is 36,750 HUF.

Each person and each application is subject to a Machine Readable Visa (MRV) processing fee. This fee must be paid in advance at the MKB Bank in Forints. All MKB Bank branches in Hungary will accept the fee. The applicant's name and passport number are required when paying the fee. The original MKB Bank receipts must be attached to the visa application. The receipts will be valid for one year and can be used at any time but are not transferable, and the fee cannot be refunded. If an applicant applies for two or more visas, the MRV processing fee must be paid for each visa application. For a list of MKB Bank branches, please visit the web site of the MKB Bank.

Starting June 4, 2010 there are different fees based on different visa categories. Please make sure that you have read all the details before choosing your visa category. Applicants must take special care to identify the correct visa category before paying the MRV fee.  Visa type is determined by the purpose of travel (e.g. tourism).  If you are uncertain how to correctly identify your purpose, visit the Visa Types page to establish which visa category you should apply for. Once the processing fee has been paid at the MKB Bank, the amount cannot be changed. If the visa processing fee is not paid correctly, the difference must be paid at the U.S. Embassy on the day of the interview (payable in USD or HUF).

Please Note: Blanket L-1 visa applicants are required to pay a $500.00 Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee. The fee must be paid to the Embassy's cashier on the day of the visa interview by the principal applicant only.  Fees may be paid in cash or credit/debit card.  This fee is in addition to the non-immigrant visa application fee.
